My second Tapped In class is scheduled for this Saturday.  It is a religion forum and I thought it may be helpful since I am a religion teacher at Holy Cross Academy.  I read the review of the last session and it seems like there will be a few helpful ideas to use.  It will helpful to simply read what other teachers of religion have to say.

I attended a second tapped in session this afternoon.  It focused on teaching religion and was set up a little different than I thought.    There were many folders set  up for teachers to explore and listen to taped sessions on specific topics.  I could not find any discussion taking place just various folders to read and apply.  There was one folder dealing with religion and families that I thought was interesting.   There is a chance I could use some of it to share with parents.

Also, as a Catholic school teacher I am responsible for religion certification.  Attending this tapped in session will add 1 hour to my required points.  I plan to tell my principal about this opportunity for other teachers to attend and earn recertification points as well.

I can’t believe that I created my webquest.  It is plain and simple but certainly usable.   I plan to use it with my fifth graders immediately.  This will be a great resource to use with science fair projects, literature circles and geography assignments.  Once they are created they are there to use over and over again.  I am so excited about this possibility.

A digital camera is part of my classroom from the first day of school.  Pictuers are taken of students working throughout the day and while they are at their specials.  During Back-to-school night parents view the powerpoint including pictures of their children working in the classroom.  It helps them understand how our day progresses and what students while visiting their specials.  Throughout the year I take pictures of science experiments, math activities and special events.  Students then have a scrapbook to share with their parents at the end of 5th grade.

At Holy Cross Academy all teachers have access to United Streaming and BrainPop.  I use both of these resources in all subject areas.  There are videos and teacher resources to choose from and use daily.  My students enjoy this as well as it gets everyone involved.

Tips and tricks was intersting.   Many in attendance were from the same class so they were having fun.  I was simply learning how to navigate my way around and not get lost.  It’s funny how they keep track of you and help you when you are lost.  Very interesting…
